Her special interest is in writing on HIV/AIDS, TB, mental health and primary healthcare. She has also written on issues of small farmers and migration.
Reputed journals and newspapers such as The Lancet, The Hindu Businessline, Deccan Herald and Star of Mysore have published her work. Her work has received appreciation and recognition in the form of awards from World Health Organisation, EU and Thomson Foundation, UK and Institute for Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium. On invitation, she has visited Damien Foundation, Bangladesh to document patient stories from the short-course regimen for MDR-TB.
Bharathi has founded and runs a blog called Journalists against TB, which has become a well-known space across the globe for spotlighting TB as a public health crisis. She has also written short stories and stories for children. Bharathi has recently published a novel Rajammal and is in the process of publishing another book, which spotlights her own experience with grief and how to cope with it.
Laxman Das Khambhammettu is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of diverse experience in government, corporate, and development sectors, specializing in program implementation, IT project management, and e-governance solutions. He has successfully led large-scale initiatives such as the PALS system for NACO, the SANKALPAM Project for Andhra Pradesh schools, and various health and education IT portals. With expertise in SDLC, vendor management, and stakeholder coordination, Laxman has demonstrated strong leadership in multicultural environments, working with organizations like UNICEF, FHI360, and Magic Bus India Foundation. He holds an M.Phil in Management, an MBA in Operations Research, and project management training from IIM Ahmedabad. His technical skills span PeopleSoft, Oracle, and web technologies, complemented by accolades for his contributions to public sector innovation.
